Bongsanjip
봉산집
Giới thiệu
Quán ăn Hàn Quốc ở Yongsan. Khẩu phần hào phóng.
Sixty years in, Bongsanjip still grills chadol—marbled brisket—over charcoal instead of a flat pan, a choice that matters more than you'd think. The owner kindles shaped briquettes at the entrance, waits for them to ash over, then sets them under wire grates so narrow you can only cook two slices at a time. Fat drips, flames leap, and the beef edges char before the center turns opaque. Walk in on a weekday evening and the room smells like rendered tallow and scorched green onion; tables sit elbow to elbow under green floral wallpaper that hasn't changed in decades. The chadol comes out in two-piece portions—130 grams for ₩25,000—ribboned with fat that crisps in seconds. Don't leave it on too long; the owner will reach over and flip it himself if you hesitate. Dip the meat in the house soy sauce spiked with raw green chili and scallion, not the oil dish, which turns heavy by the third piece. If you order the yang sogeumgui—salted first-stomach tripe—char it in the chadol drippings, then wrap a slice of brisket around it; regulars eat the combination in one bite. The meal ends with chadol makjang jjigae, a doenjang-base stew with more brisket and silken tofu, brackish and just fatty enough to justify a bowl of rice. It arrives with aged kimchi on the side, the kind that's gone sour and soft. Weekday afternoons before 4 p.m. mean no wait; evenings between six and eight can run thirty minutes. Reserve by phone if your schedule is tight. No parking—use the lot at the War Memorial or the Samgak public garage a few blocks over. No English menu, but the handwritten board lists five items. Cash only.
Mẹo địa phương
- Reserve by phone (02-793-5022) — peak hours 6-7pm weekdays fill up fast; visit before 4pm for shorter waits.
- Order the signature soy sauce with green chili and green onion — dip beef in this instead of oil sauce to avoid heaviness and enhance flavor.
- Ask owner to grill the meat for you if unsure of technique — his timing perfects the charred, smoky finish.
- Pair chadol baki with lamb salt grilled by eating lamb wrapped in beef — the combination is more flavorful than eating individually.
- Park at nearby public lots (전쟁기념관 main lot, 삼각민영주차장); no street parking available in this narrow alley.
