Pub Yeongdeungpo

About

Hip greenhouse-styled gastro pub tucked inside Mullae's metal workshop alleys, serving Spanish-inspired cod steaks and curated wines alongside beer and soju.

Tucked deep within Mullae-dong’s maze of metal workshops and shuttered industrial garages, Vinyl House lives up to its literal name. Follow a warm amber bulb past parked trucks and stacked steel sheets to find a functioning greenhouse structure housing one of the district’s most enduring fixtures. Operating since 2016 and marked with a Blue Ribbon badge, this casual dining pub merges raw outdoor-market aesthetics with an ambitious wine-bar kitchen. Inside, farm-style greenhouse ribbing arches above exposed brick, glowing neon accents, and rows of utilitarian red plastic convenience-store chairs and tables. The translucent ceiling diffuses the interior light, lending an unpretentious, improvisational mood that feels equal parts retro street stall and underground art space. While the seating is intentionally sparse and bare-bones, the kitchen serves meticulously plated dishes ordered seamlessly via table QR codes. The undisputed centerpiece is the honey cod steak (kkul-daegu steak), an homage to Spanish flavors featuring tender white cod smothered in tomato sauce and cheese, torched on top until browned and bubbling. Spoons cut easily through the sweet, savory, and tangy layers. For starch, the meljeot (anchovy paste) oil pasta brings an assertive Korean twist, cutting the richness of the oil with a sharp chili kick reminiscent of Jeju meat noodles. Larger gatherings lean toward the overflowing clam stew, piled with manila clams, mussels, squid, and king prawns in a savory, golden broth punctuated with red sauce and herbs. Crispy yuringi tossed with lemon and sliced scallions resets the palate between richer bites. Drink options cater to every preference: chilled cases stocked with natural and conventional wines ranging from budget-friendly bottles to high-end vintages, beside drafts, soju, highballs, and non-alcoholic ciders. Vinyl House captures Mullae’s industrial romance—a spot where you sip chilled white wine from stemware while planted firmly on red plastic chairs, sheltered beneath a greenhouse roof.
