About

Charcoal grill pocha in Bucheon serving hagfish, beef abomasum, and chicken feet alongside complimentary gizzards and cold acorn jelly soup.

Located opposite We’ve the State Complex 9 in Bucheon’s Sinjung-dong neighborhood, Kkom-sut leans into the nostalgic charm of a classic Korean pocha grill house. Inside, the dining room is outfitted with round metal tables featuring built-in side caddies for napkins and utensils, while overhead exhaust systems keep the air clear. On balmy evenings, the action spills onto the sidewalk patio, where strings of ceiling lights illuminate al fresco tables filled with neighborhood locals unwinding after work. Before any ordered dishes arrive over the glowing oak charcoal, the table is set with complimentary starters. A chilled bowl of broth-laden muksabal (acorn jelly soup) cuts through the heat, flanked by fragrant chamnamul (seasoned pimpinella greens), wraps, and a complimentary portion of raw chicken gizzards (ttongjip). Sizzling these chewy, unseasoned gizzards on the wire mesh provides immediate gratification while the rest of the meal is prepped. The menu revolves around charcoal-grilled meats and seafood offered at wallet-friendly prices. The signature kkomjangeo (hagfish) is available two ways: salt-grilled to spotlight its naturally nutty, briny profile and snappy bite, or slathered in a sweet-and-spicy marinade that caramelizes across the grate. Beyond eel, the spread includes tender galmaegisal (pork skirt meat), boneless chicken feet, webbing honeycomb pork skin (beoljip kkeopdegi), and rich so-makchang (beef abomasum). The beef makchang is particularly lauded for how the high heat renders its fat, creating a deeply smoky, blistered exterior with a satisfyingly chewy center that pairs seamlessly with beer or soju. With convenient basement parking in the Woolim Lumiart building, Kkom-sut functions effortlessly as an approachable, no-fuss watering hole tailored for lingering conversations over live coals.
