About
Buam-dong fine dining. Seasonal Korean tasting menu.
A steep climb through residential lanes ends at a café with floor-to-ceiling glass overlooking Inwangsan's ridgeline and the tiled roofs of Buam-dong stacked below. Hijakk occupies a hillside perch where Seoul's northern fringe dissolves into forest, accessible only by car or a serious uphill walk in proper shoes. The terrace ceiling is cut into a heart-shaped frame that doubles as the money shot, but the real draw is the westward panorama—best after 5:30pm when the lowering sun washes the granite slopes amber and the city lights begin to speckle the valley. Inside, the space is smaller than photos suggest. Two window-front seats command the view; locals arrive before opening or reserve days ahead on Naver to claim them. The rest of the room arranges itself around those anchors: a six-top sofa against the back wall, a row of two-tops along the glass, a communal table near the counter. The terrace holds three tables exposed to wind—bring a jacket even in mild weather. Drinks skew standard (lattes hover around 7,800 won, honey lemon ade 8,500), pretzels with cream cheese the only substantive food. The ginger lemon tea arrives bracingly sweet; the matcha latte balances earthy and smooth. Quality is workmanlike, the premium paid for altitude and sightline. Come weekdays between 2pm and 5pm to sidestep the weekend scrum. Last order at 6pm sharp, closed Tuesdays. Parking maxes out at four cars, often requiring a phone number left on the dash for double-park shuffles. Cash and card both accepted.
