About

The real hangover soup. Open 24 hours.

The 5 a.m. open draws overnight market workers and soju-fogged stragglers in equal measure, but by 10:30 on a weekday morning the crowd skews solo — regulars hunched over bowls at window-counter seats, no shared tables yet. The signboard promises *jinjja* haejangguk, "real" hangover soup, a term that turns out to be specific rather than boastful: doenjang-base broth boiled down with beef brisket bones until the liquid goes milky and faintly sweet, then loaded with hand-shredded yangji brisket, wilted dangmyeon-soft ugeoji cabbage, and blocks of seonji blood cake. The kitchen tears cooked brisket by hand all morning — visible through the pass — and the ugeoji has been simmered long enough that it collapses on the spoon with no fibrous resistance. The default bowl arrives mild, almost neutral, which is the point: a tray of scallions, minced cheongyang peppers, gochugaru, and a rust-red dadaegi paste circulates from table to table so you can dial in your own heat as you go. Regulars know to ask for extra seonji when ordering — staff comply without fuss — and the kkakdugi radish kimchi, sweet and crunchy, gets refilled two or three times per person. The "special" (₩15,000) swaps brisket for whole Australian beef bones you pry apart with chopsticks; the standard version (₩11,000) is gentler but just as deep. After 5 p.m. the place pivots to grilled samgyeopsal, and the floor gets slick with pork fat, but the haejangguk runs all day. Avoid the 14:20–17:00 break; otherwise walk-ins move fast except weekend evenings, when waits stretch past thirty minutes. Cash preferred, no parking, no English menu — point at a neighbor's bowl if needed.

Local tips

  • Visit before 2:20 PM or after 5 PM to avoid peak lunch rush; expect 30+ min waits evenings and weekends.
  • Request '선지 많이 주세요' (extra seonji) when ordering if you love blood cakes — staff will oblige.
  • Customize broth heat level yourself: table has diced yangnyeom (seasoning), sliced scallions, gochugaru, and cheongyang peppers — add progressively to taste.
  • Pay cash preferred (though cards accepted); no parking on-site — use nearby Hyundai City Outlet or municipal lots.
  • Open 5 AM daily (even for breakfast); brake time 2:40–5 PM; last order 11:30 PM — perfect for late-night recovery.
