About

Legendary Samsung-dong beef institution serving premium Hanwoo sirloin seared on cast-iron pans, finishing with classic radish kimchi fried rice.

Occupying a multi-story building near Samseong Jungang Station, Hangadaero carries forward a storied tradition in Gangnam. Long recognized by longtime patrons under its former identity as Daedo Sikdang, the establishment retains its classic, vintage beef-house aesthetic, with archival photographs lining the walls and generous seating that spans semi-private partitioned alcoves and large banquet rooms accommodating up to a hundred guests. The dining format strips away unnecessary clutter, focusing squarely on single-cut Hanwoo fresh sirloin sourced from Eumseong, Chungbuk. Thick, well-marbled cuts—frequently showcasing coveted sections like salchisal and saewoosal—arrive with pristine white beef suet. Staff grease the heavy cast-iron skillet with the rendered tallow before searing the beef over high heat, often tossing wedges of raw cabbage and whole garlic cloves directly into the hot pan beside the meat. The table spread remains intentionally minimal: crisp radish kimchi, a warm bowl of beansprout soup, gochujang for dipping raw cabbage, and individual bowls of pache (spicy shredded scallions), which some diners enrich by dropping a raw egg yolk into the greens to balance the richness of the beef. No meal here concludes without cooking on the residual beef fat left in the skillet. Diners can choose between dwenjang-juk—a thick, bubbling soybean paste porridge—or the quintessential kkakdugi bokkeumbap. The fried rice, stained crimson with tart diced radish kimchi, is pressed into the iron pan until it crisps around the edges, delivering an addictive tang that cuts straight through the unctuous meal; portions run so generously that guests regularly request takeaway containers for the leftovers. Offering conveniences like valet parking, extended hours without afternoon breaks, and corkage options with designated glassware, Hangadaero functions as a reliable fixture for family gatherings and corporate dinners seeking timeless Korean barbecue done on seasoned iron.
