바다가요리한찜
About
Long-running seafood dining hall in Sinwol-dong known for generously portioned braised seafood dishes and handmade octopus sujebi.
Occupying an expansive footprint along Hwagok-ro in Yangcheon-gu, Badaga Yorihan Jjim has spent nearly two decades anchoring the neighborhood’s braised seafood scene. What was once a traditional floor-seating establishment has modernized into an expansive dining hall of over a hundred seats, complete with private dining rooms and wide rows of banquet-style chairs. It carries the lived-in patina of an enduring neighborhood fixture, catering reliably to multi-generational family gatherings and local diners taking advantage of the dedicated two-hour parking. The kitchen builds its reputation on massive portions of braised specialties, ranging from *agu-jjim* (spicy braised blackmouth angler) to sprawling platters of *haemul-jjim* (mixed seafood) crowned with an entire tender squid. The standard heat level packs a creeping sweat, tossing thick piles of crunchy soybean sprouts and tender seafood in a rich, fiery sauce. An unexpected touch arrives nestled within the platter: freshly fried, crispy seaweed rolls (*gimmari*) that soak up the spicy braising liquid. Once the seafood is picked clean, the remaining sauce is whisked back to the kitchen to form the foundation of a dry, nutty fried rice dotted with toasted seaweed. Beyond the signature braised platters, the restaurant functions comfortably as an everyday spot for lunch and casual dinners. The kitchen hand-tears noodles for its *nakji sujeobi* (hand-pulled dough soup with octopus), which comes served in deeply comforting broth alongside a bowl of nutty barley rice to dress with gochujang. Crisp, scallion-packed seafood pancakes (*haemul pajeon*) and savory stir-fried pork (*jeyuk bokkeum*) loaded with shredded lettuce balance out the menu. Banchan shifts with the seasons, from gentle mung bean jelly (*cheongpomuk*) and sweet glazed dried anchovies to sharp radish kimchi and chilled water kimchi that offer necessary relief against the red chili heat.
