About
A cozy snack bar near Magoknaru Station sharing space with a lottery shop, famous for chewy rice tteokbokki and well-prepared blood sausage.
Tucked inside an unassuming commercial building near Magongnaru Station in Gangseo, Lotto Bunsik earns its name quite literally: it shares its quarters with an active lottery ticket counter. Regulars stop in to test their luck on a scratch-off slip and stay for the comforting clatter of street-food staples, greeted by the husband-and-wife owners who run the spotless, warm-hearted little counter. The star of the menu is the rice tteokbokki. Coated in a vivid, deep-crimson glaze made with domestic chili flakes, the cylinder-cut rice cakes maintain a chewy, springy bite without growing waterlogged or mushy. The sauce occupies that sweet spot between soupy and dense—glossy, thick enough to cling, yet spoonable. Despite its searing color, the seasoning leans gently piquant rather than intensely fiery, balanced by a faint sweetness that makes you continuously scrape the paper bowl clean. Just as crucial to Lotto Bunsik’s appeal is the sundae. Steamed blood sausage often suffers from off-flavors, but here the plump links of chapssal sundae and the accompanying offal—liver, lung, and heart—are impeccably fresh and devoid of any gaminess. The liver arrives moist and tender, while the sliced sausage retains a taut snap. What makes the shop a haven for solo diners is its thoughtful, budget-friendly menu design. Rather than forcing you to order overwhelming, separate portions, the kitchen accommodates single diners with half-and-half combo platters (tteokbokki and sundae together) and half-portion sizing alongside fried mandu, squid fritters, and cheese ramen. It is straightforward, unpretentious neighborhood dining where guests willingly bus their own trays out of sheer respect for the owners, occasionally picking up a 5,000-won lottery ticket on their way back out to the pavement.
